Math:

Grammer/ Writing: This week First Grade starts the unit on Exclamatory and Command sentences. This week introduces exclamations and exposes the students to proper usage of exclamation marks. The focus of the exclamatory sentence is the emotion exhibited in the sentence We will also continue working on our narration and retelling skills.

History& Science: :This week, our scholars will dive into two fascinating topics that connect history and science in meaningful ways. In history, we’re exploring Ancient Egypt, focusing on identifying pyramids and hieroglyphs and uncovering the stories they tell about this remarkable civilization. In science, we’re delving into the vital behaviors of parents and offspring in the natural world, examining how these actions ensure survival in both plants and animals. It’s a week of curiosity, discovery, and connections across time and nature!

Literature: Frog and Toad All Year: This week First Grade will be finishing up the Frog and Toad series. We will continue to work on our retell skills, while determining the cause and effect of the characters actions. Folktales: Thursday and Friday of this week will begin our unit on Folktales with Anansi the Spider.  Folk tales come to us from many places around the world. Cultures carry their own traditional stories and Anansi the Spider is a loved character from West African folk tales. A roguish, wise mischief-maker, Anansi is frequently found to be outsmarting much larger, stronger foes.

This week our poem is: Come Ye Faithful People, Come  by Henry Alford. Alford used traditional language and imagery of the rural community to lend words of thankfulness for God's provision.
