Math: Students will demonstrate their mastery on Chapter 2 over “Addition within 10” and adding using number bonds. Towards the end of the week, students will review subtraction equations learned in kindergarten to build a firm foundation in subtraction. Prior knowledge of the part-whole model (reviewed in the previous addition chapter) is important for student comprehension of subtraction and development of an understanding of the relationship between addition and subtraction throughout this chapter.

Grammer/ Writing: Students will be learning Plural nouns and reviewing Define a noun as a person, place, thing, quality, or idea.  Distinguish between plural and possessive nouns.

Literature: This week marks the end of our Fairy Tale Unit. We are wrapping up with: Sweet Porridge, Tom Thumb, Thumbelina and Issun Boshi. Tom Thumb, Thumbelina and Issun Boshi are similar in that each main character is very small, yet the manage to go on some exciting adventures.

Our poem this week is Flint by Christina Rosetti. The main theme in this poem is to not judge a book by its cover. The poem describes how all the gems are beautiful and shining, except for the flint that is unattractive and lies in the mud. Although the flint lies in mud and is overshadowed by the other more beautiful stones, it is the flint that holds fire.

History& Science: This week scholars will be reading about the moon's phases and using interactive tools such as clay & Oreos! For History, scholars will be going into depth on Europe and its culture.
