Hello Families, this week is our Egyptian Celebration on Thursday December 12th the signup genius is linked down below also to donate supplies and to help volunteer. You all should have received your Habitat Project slip in your scholar's Black folder please make sure you sign the paper acknowledging you understand we have a project. The form is due December 6th. Also, regarding the project please make sure your scholar is doing most of the work if you have any questions, please reach out to your scholars' teacher. Important Information:
- Scholars with Upper School siblings (who wait in the MPR at carline) must have a silent reading book everyday with them or in their backpack.
- Please make sure your scholar packs a snack everyday so they can refresh their energy. It doesn't have to be a big snack but just something to tie them over till lunch time.
- Scholars have Math and Spalding Homework daily except for Fridays so please make sure you are checking their black folders daily for homework and math workbook and reading the agendas.
- Please send your scholar with a water bottle to school every day so they can stay hydrated.
-For Spalding homework please write the words 2 times and in 2 Columns, you will fold the paper hot dog style and write on the left-hand side and close to the folded line.
- We are going to start going to the library so please make sure when you see A Great Hearts Western Hills book make sure they return it on their next library day your lead will send an email to let you know when that is. (Schedule is down BelowLibrary Rotation/ Schedule:

Week at a Glance:
Spalding: Review phonograms 1-70 will be reinforced with daily OPR/WPR and applied through analysis of daily spelling instruction. An emphasis on base words continues as the teacher helps children discover the meaning transferred to the derivatives as endings are added and prefixes introduced.
Math:
Grammer/ Writing: This week students will be learning about commanding sentences. They will distinguish between a command and statement (telling) sentence.
History& Science: This week in History, our first graders will wrap up their exciting unit on Ancient Egypt with a special celebration, marking our second big event of the year, followed by a short assessment on Friday to review all they’ve learned about this fascinating civilization. In Science, we will begin exploring habitats in preparation for our scholars’ Independent Habitat Projects, focusing on the tundra and savanna this week. Students will learn about the unique climate, plants, and animals of these two diverse ecosystems, taking notes, participating in discussions, and creating drawings to bring these habitats to life in their notebooks.
